What is an AG-TYE®?

An AG-TYE®is a piece of food grade plastic molded into the form of a chain with a long T on one end and a short T on the other, total length being approximately 12” long. It is made from a select group of materials that allow it to maintain its strength and durability characteristic of 45-50- tensile pounds as well as 5 or 6 years life in field usage. It is made in such a manner that allows it to be installed rapidly and maintain adjustability with a certain amount of stretch-ability.It was designed first and foremost for the tying of grape vines but since its inception it has seen wide and varied uses in the agricultural industry such as Kiwi vines, young citrus trees, avocado trees and raspberries to name a few.

Apart from plant training, AG-TYEs have been known to be used for such things as suspending drip irrigation lines, securing sprinkler risers to stakes, bundling hydraulic hoses and wires on farm equipment.

Because of their speed and efficiency in installation and readjustment, along with their long life, AG-TYEs have proven themselves time after time to be the most economical type of tie available on the market today.

The methods of securing an AG-TYE are as varied as the applications themselves, but the method most widely used is described on the attached piece of literature. When it is found that an AG TYE is either too long or too short, AG TYEs can be shortened by cutting with a knife or by gripping the lengths on either side of the point of the desired length and giving a quick twist to sever. To lengthen, place the long T into the first link next to the short T, place your thumb on the short T, give a half twist one way, then slide into the first link next to the long T and a positive connection has been made.

AG TYEs come in several colors, green, orange, black and natural, although green is the standard and most widely used color due to its availability and its UV protectant help in its longevity.
